Liveaboard trips around Komodo and Raja Ampat
Ratu Pelangi “Rainbow Queen” is our liveaboard boat in Komodo and Raja Ampat. She is a modern Phinisi boat built in 2003 and extensively renovated in 2018. We operate in Komodo National Park from early May until late October and Raja Ampat from November until early April.
She has an interesting history – originally sailing around Sumatra as a surf charter boat and was also involved in rescuing people during the tsunami in 2004. The vessel is fully equipped with the latest safety features such as sonar, navigation, depth sounder, GPS, satellite phone, emergency oxygen and life boat and will take you to some of the best diving spots in Raja Ampat, Komodo and other famous areas in the Banda sea, Alor and Flores.
She is over 30 metres long with the hull constructed from iron wood which gets stronger when immersed in water and the structure made from Borneo solid teak wood planks. There are three front sails, two top and bottom sails from the centre mast, and two sails from the rear mast, in a strong wind she can reach up to 8 knots while cruising Komodo and Raja Ampat.
The boat has one large cabin with six beds and two twin cabins downstairs and two smaller twin cabins upstairs and can accommodate up to 14 guests. There is aircon in all the rooms, two hot water showers on the middle deck, and there’s a big upper deck that has a great dining area in the shade, and an extra area with a comfortable sofa and table. Otherwise, you can spend your time in plenty of open spaces on the upper deck, lying on sun beds or bean bags.
Divers will be provided with fresh towels and linen, water and electrolytes, tanks, and weights on our liveaboard trips to Komodo and Raja Ampat. What’s more, you’ll get your dive guides, loads of tasty food, tea, coffee and snacks throughout the trip. Soft drinks and ice cold beers are also available for purchase.
